Dr. Mead served as a Health Education Teacher and Physical Education (Gymnastic Coach 20 years and Ski Club Advisor 25 years) for 31 years total in public school in New York State
In 1992, Pelham Mead III received his Doctoral Degree from Columbia University Teachers College majoring in Educational Administration
In 1998, Dr. Mead retired from NYS public school and entered a 12 year career in Higher Education working at New York University, St. Johns University, The College of Mount Saint Vincent, and the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.
In 2010, Dr. Mead resigned from NYCOM and moved to California to care for his mother.
In 2010, Dr. Mead retired from active teaching in Colleges and Universities and set his focus on writing novels that he always wanted to write all his life. The first novel which took 15 years of research is about his father Chief Petty Officer Ken Mead and his survival on Okinawa at the end of WWII on August 31, 1945 to Oct. 14, 1945. The novel “Autumn Winds Over Okinawa 1945,” was published Dec. 2011 by Xlibris publishers.
In Sept. 2012, Dr. Mead published his second novel called, “The Chinese Crystal Ball,” 110 pages by Author House publishers.
Dr. Mead lives in El Cajon, California which is in San Diego county.
